LEISURE SOCIETY/HERITAGE! Tom wrote for an amazing evening in a sold-out Barbican in London. It was a combination of Buckley's amazing Heritage Orchestra and The Leisure Society, a great band from England. Clips abound on YouTube, please check them out.
NBE/NIEUWJAARSCONCERT! Tom wrote for the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble, and their always amazing New Year's Concert. If you're in Holland, you can find this on TV, if you're not - too bad. Luc Arbogast was guest this year, and is a truly surprising talent. Please check this out.
CELLO BIËNNALE/BYLSMA! Tom is working with cello legend Anner Bylsma for the Cello Biennale in Amsterdam. 2 new works for performance and publication. The concerts are later this year, but practically anything Anner touches must certainly be seen!
NNO/BEATLES! Tom orchestrated a full evening of Beatles music for the Noord Nederlands Orkest. Featuring singers Chris Zegers and Jim and Marcel De Groot, it was a smashing success! On the page below you can find reviews and clips.

LOS ANGELES II/GORDON CD! Tom wrote for Gordon's Los Angeles The Voices Second CD, Because We Believe. The first CD went platinum, and this has already enjoyed a few weeks at Number 1. Go buy this.
CONCERTGEBOUW/KRAAYENHOF! Tom's Bandoneon concerto for Carel Kraayenhof "Brown and Nocturne" (along with Tom's arrangements of Carel's solo stuff and Piazzolla) had its Dutch premiere in the Concertgebouw on the 14th of July!
HOLIDAY ON ICE! Tom orchestrated - with cool, collected colleague Willem Friede - the music of Stephen Emmer for Holiday on Ice this year. On tour everywhere.
TODD RUNDGREN ! Tom wrote a set of music for Todd Rundgren and the Metropole Orkest. Premiere was in Septembed in the Paradiso in Amsterdam. There is a mix in the making for radio broadcast, and if you can find it, please download it. It was fantastic, with lots of Todd's hits, as well as lots of never-before heard songs.
NBE/TAREQ AL NASSER! Tom orchestrated a show for Tareq al Nasser and Nederlands Blazers Ensemble (the Dutch Wind Ensemble). We toured the Middle East including Jordan/Israel/Palestine in May!
ADRIAN BELEW/METROPOLE! Tom orchestrated Adrian's new album, "e" for the Metropole Orkest. Recording sessions and the concert in Amsterdam were amazing. Please buy the CD and DVD!
ROSTO/NIX/TOM WAITS/GILLIAM! Tom has orchestrated (and composed some of) the music for a film by Rosto. It's called "The Monster of Nix" and is animated, featuring some VERY diverse voices, including Tom Waits and Terry Gilliam. More info on ROSTO and this project
Armin van Buuren AGAIN - CD/DVD! Tom wrote for a HUGE show. It's "Armin Only," Armin van Buuren's solo tour. The show featured a large number of special guests. CD/DVD/Blu-Ray are already out, buy them!
GORDON/LATV CD PLATINUM! Tom's arrangements are on the first album from Gordon and Los Angeles The Voices. The album has just been awarded PLATINUM status. That's just cool.
CAREL KRAAYENHOF SEPTET! Tom wrote (awhile ago) a bandoneon concert for Carel Kraayenhof - and has recently arranged Carel's "Suite Compasion" for his new septet. Virtuoso musicians playing amazing new (and old) music. Go see Carel, he doesn't know how to disappoint.
NBE/REIJSEGER AGAIN! Tom and Ernst Reijseger just orchestrated Ernst's new cello concerto for the Netherlands Wind Ensemble (NBE), and are busy with a whole new program for Sardinian Singers A Filetta and NBE. Premieres/tour in March.
RICCIOTTI/LEINE TOUR! Tom wrote an tune for Leine and the Ricciotti Ensemble's new tour, called "Astronauts." Put on a space helmet and go see the shows.
BOB FOSKO/KLASSIEK RAGGEN! Tom
wrote a bunch of arrangements for a new project from "Raggende
Manne" vocalist Bob Fosko. It's Bob with a classical ensemble.

AMSTERDAM SINFONIETTE/TRIJNTJE OOSTERHUIS! Tom wrote a live arrangement for Blue Note artist Trijntje Oosterhuis, performing with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta. Go see her in concert, she's extraordinary (and friendly).
SERJ TANKIAN/LOWLANDS! Tom
is combined the rock versions and the symphonic versions of "Elect
The Dead" and the "Elect The Dead Symphony" for Serj
Tankian and the Metropole Orkest for a rock-your-face-off performance
at the Lowlands Festival.
IOANNIDIS/PAPASTAMOU/ABSOLUTE! Tom
wrote another piece for Kristjan Jarvi's Absolute Ensemble. This for
a show of the Greek (and Cypriot) heroes Alkinoos Ioannidis and Miltiades
Papastamou.

STEVE VAI AGAIN! Tom
wrote again with the amazing Vai. Vaiwrote and performed with an orchestra
(where he belongs). The last effort was the "(Visual) Sound
Theories" CD/DVD, and this time it was a Vai festival with the
North Netherlands Orchestra.
Basement Jaxx! Tom
wrote 2 tracks for a project with Basement Jaxx and the Metropole. Guest
conductor/fine Englishman Jules Buckley put together the get-together,
which will have you dancing in your (or someone else's) pants.
The CD is out too.
Armin van Buuren/VanVelzen/Harpen Gala! Armin won a Gouden Harp award for being the #1 DJ in the world and just a generally kick-ass guy. He was asked to perform 2 tunes with VanVelzen and the Metropole Orkest live onstage. Tom wrote the music for this. A good time was had by all and it was on TV, so maybe you can find it online somewhere.
Beatles Symphony! Tom
orchestrated for the Beatles Symphony with the Metropole Orchestra/AVRO
shows in April. Featuring Jon Allen, Manuela Kemp, Frederique Spigt,
and Henk Hofstede, the shows were a sold-out fantastico. You'll be able
to hear this online, too.
Brigitte Kaandorp! Tom
did a few charts for Brigitte Kaandorp's upcoming theater thing. Brigitte
is a painfully good writer/deliverer of text, and generally one of the
funniest people alive.
Cobla/Claron McFadden! Tom
composed (and conducting) a small opera called Atlantis - with colleagues
Ilja Reijngoud and Frank Carlberg for Cobla la Principal d'Amsterdam!
The lead was played by Claron McFadden.
KEITH CAPUTO! Tom orchestrated a set of material for Keith Caputo (Life of Agony). An acoustic set of Keith's beautiful solo music, presented by Keith, his band, and a small orchestra of strings and winds- it was absolutely gorgeous and Keith and his band are real musicians. l'ONBA/Bordeaux/Evento! Tom wrote arrangements (and some original music) for the opening of the festival "Evento" in Bordeaux, France. The music was conducted by Kwamé Ryan. Featuring electronics by Max de Wardener and Vocals by Mara Carlyle, Seaming To, and Marcela de Loa it was a great evening. Hopefully this event will repeat itself.
U.N.K.L.E. AGAIN! Tom wrote 2 arrangements for U.N.K.L.E.'s new album/tour. The tunes were/are called "Country," featuring Gavin Clark, and "Runaway". Check UNKLE out!
GEORGE DUKE! Tom just wrote for George Duke. This wonderful evening of Dukey treats was concertized by Napoleon Murphy Brock, Edsilia Rombley, Michiel Borstlap, the Metropole Orkest and George, of course.
ED KOWALCZYK! Tom wrote for Ed Kowalczyk, lead singer for "Live." Premiere was Heineken Music Hall in October. It was a beautiful, massive sold-out type of crowd. There's talk of a DVD.
Heritage Orchestra/CLANGERS! Tom has just conducted the amazing Heritage Orchestra in the Queen Elizabeth Hall (London). Vernon Elliot's score to Oliver Postgate's CLANGERS! The second half of the show was Russ Garcia's 1959 outer-space album, Fantastica!
MINGUS MINGUS MINGUS! Tom orchestrated for a Mingus Project with Randy Brecker, Conrad Herwig and Ronnie Cuber! Conducted by John Clayton, the Metropole Orchestra concertized this in April. Read the review in the Volkskrant (Dutch) HERE. Check out VIDEO of the concert here!
GOLDENER BÄR and GOUDEN KALF! "Den Helder," a film with music from Bram Meindersma (and orchestration by Tom) has been honored in Holland with the biggest Dutch film prize, a "Golden Calf." The film then went to the Berlin Film Festival and won Germany's biggest film prize - a"Golden Bear!" Big-ass golden prizes. Congrats to Bram and director Jorien van Nes.
2 NEW ALBUMS FROM TOM! Tom is working on 2 albums for an upcoming release. The first, "Little Animals," is a 2-CD extravaganza of a quintet (violin, clarinet, piano, cello, and contrabass). The first disc is the quintet itself, the second is what is going on elsewhere in your head while you're listening to the quintet. The second is "Afterlife," an 8-movement suite composed for (and of course, recorded by) the Metropole Orchestra of Holland. PINK RIBBON/CONCERTGEBOUW! Tom conducted the Fluitsma & van Tijn Orchestra at the Concertgbouw in Amsterdam. This was the Pink Ribbon Gala, demanding attention for breast cancer. Many Dutch starts sang, and a good time was had by all. Elizabeth Hurley presented a photography award - and yes, she really is that pretty - and yes, much attention was brought to this very important cause.
BLADE RUNNER/MASSIVE ATTACK! Tom has orchestrated for the London premiere of the Blade Runner soundtrack, originally composed by Vangelis. The soundtrack was performed live by the Heritage Orchestra, and mixed and manipulated on-the-spot by Massive Attack as part of their "Meltdown" festival. It was a huge, sold-out success, and received 5 stars from the London Evening Standard. Click HERE for the review!
BLACK WATER TRANSIT! Tom has orchestrated the Capitol film "Black Water Transit," directed by Tony Kaye (American History X). The film stars Laurence Fishburne and Brittany Snow. Composers Amory Leader and Will Horrocks lead the compositional side of things. The music was recorded by the Heritage Orchesta of London, in AIR studios, a fantastic facility. The film has just shown at Cannes, so look for the premiere sometime soon.
GRAMMY NOM! "The Attitude Song," one of Tom's orchestrations from the Steve Vai record "Sound Theories" was nominated for a GRAMMY this year... didn't win, but it was the second year in a row Steve's project with the Metropole Orkest got nominated.
